Day One for Molzi by Brainlabs

I can remember the first ever client contract that Molzi signed 1,533 days ago as if it was yesterday. It was validation that the business I set-up in my spare bedroom was more than just a hope and dream. 

Today is such a proud day for me; to see the business that started with huge ambitions has been acquired by Brainlabs. In reality, our plan had not been to sell the business this soon, but since the first time I met with Dan (Gilbert, Brainlabs Global CEO), I could see how closely our culture and ambitions fit; and that Brainlabs could help us in our mission to get both bigger and better.

After many (many!) acquisition approaches, myself and the Molzi management team drew up our no-compromise list of criteria we would look for in a potential buyer for Molzi. They were:

  1. Culture and ambition fit
  2. A win for all Molzians, not just shareholders (progression and development)
  3. The ability to make us better, and delight clients further
  4. Rocket fuel for our growth plans.

Seems like a short list. But the reality is that it was difficult and, in fact, felt unlikely we'd find a partner that could tick all four of those boxes. Until we met Brainlabs.

On a personal note, I’m super excited to become part of the Brainlabs team; to be among the company of some of the smartest and most experienced people in the media world. I’m really excited to have a boss again, and to continue to learn and develop myself. A big part of our growth plans will involve building out our US and APAC offerings, as well significantly accelerating the development of our tech stack. I’m really excited to see how we can start to bring together Brainlabs’ other digital offerings with Amazon to give our clients more and more insights.

Finally, I wanted to take the opportunity to personally thank every Molzian for trusting us with your career, and helping us deliver such an exciting milestone. It’s difficult for me to express in a blog post how much I appreciate your contributions and dedication.

And to our clients, who are the reason why we can keep developing, improving and growing; thank you for believing in us, and thank you for challenging us. The Brainlabs handbook states that feedback is a gift, and at Molzi we’ve believed that since the start of our journey; always looking for ways to get better and not just bigger.

As Amazon says, it’s always day one. And for Molzi by Brainlabs that’s true today. We’re so excited about the next stage of our journey.
